Lezzo rosehip instant drink - the sweet, ruby-red powdered drink Turkish households have kept in the cupboard for decades, here as two 300 g packs in one box (600 g in all). The box says it makes about 24 glasses, hot or cold.
Highlights
- Rosehip and raspberry flavour - kusburnu, as the ingredient list shows
- Double pack - 2 x 300 g packs, 600 g in total
- Hot or cold - stirred into cold water for a summer drink, or hot water like a fruit tea
- No sweetener - as printed on the box; it is sweetened with sugar, not artificial sweeteners
- About 24 glasses - as printed on the front of the box
How to Make
Cold: stir 1.5 tablespoons (about 25 g) into a glass of cold water (200 mL) until dissolved. Hot: stir 2 teaspoons (about 8 g) into a tea glass of hot water (100 mL). For a jug: put 7.5 tablespoons (about 125 g) in a jug, top up to 1 L with water and ice, and stir well. These are the box's own directions.
Stir until the powder has fully dissolved before serving, and keep an opened pack tightly closed - the powder takes up moisture from the air and cakes if left open.
What Is a Kusburnu Drink?
Kusburnu is the Turkish name for rosehip, the red fruit of the wild rose. A powdered rosehip drink like this one is a sweet, fruity drink mix rather than a fruit juice or an herbal tea - the flavour comes from rosehip and raspberry flavourings, with sugar as the first ingredient. It is served cold in summer and hot in winter, much like a fruit-flavoured drink mix in the US.
