Coarse bulgur already mixed with vermicelli, in a 2.2 lb (1 kg) bag from Tat, made in Turkiye. It is the mix for sehriyeli bulgur pilavi - the everyday Turkish pilaf served next to stews, beans and kebabs - with nothing to measure out separately.
Highlights
- Pilaf-ready mix - coarse bulgur and vermicelli in one bag
- 2.2 lb (1 kg) - about 17 servings of 100 g by the label
- Made in Turkiye - origin as printed on the pack
- Clear window - you can see the grain and noodles before you buy
- Tat - from the same Tat line as the quinoa, flaxseed and buckwheat on our shelves
How to Cook
The pack recommends checking and rinsing the bulgur before cooking. For pilaf, soften a chopped onion in butter or oil, stir in a spoon of tomato or pepper paste if you like, then add the bulgur and stir for a minute. Pour in about 2 cups of hot water or stock for every cup of bulgur, season with salt and pepper, cover and cook on low heat for about 15 minutes until the water is absorbed.
Take it off the heat and let it rest, covered, for 10 minutes before fluffing with a fork. Serve it with yogurt, beans, stews or grilled meat.
