Tomato, onion and green pepper already chopped and cooked down in a jar, so menemen starts at the eggs instead of at the chopping board. Pour it into the pan, warm it through, crack the eggs in.

- The menemen base, ready - tomato, tomato juice, onion and pepper in one jar
- Short ingredient list - vegetables, sunflower oil and salt, nothing else
- No preservatives - as printed on the jar
- 12 oz (340 g) glass jar - enough for a family breakfast pan
- Made in Turkiye - by Tat
How to Cook
Pour the jar into a pan and cook it for 2 to 3 minutes. Add eggs for the number of people at the table, stir gently and cook until it sets the way you like it - soft and loose or firmer. That is the whole recipe on the jar.
A little butter in the pan first, white cheese or sujuk added with the eggs, and fresh bread on the side are all usual. The mix is already salted, so taste before adding more.
Once opened, keep it in the fridge and use it within 5 days.
What Is Menemen?
Menemen is the Turkish breakfast pan: eggs cooked in a sauce of tomato, green pepper and often onion, eaten straight from the pan with bread. It sits somewhere between scrambled eggs and shakshuka - the eggs are usually stirred through rather than left whole. Whether it should contain onion is a long-running argument in Turkey; this jar comes down on the side of onion.
